Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range Faces Temporary Closures

Pima County Natural Resources Parks & Recreation announced today that the Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range will be open for public shooting on Saturdays and Sundays only from 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M. and will not be open to public shooting on Thursdays and Fridays from November 15 though December 30, 2007. The range will be undergoing some renovations that include the construction of a new Shooting Sports Education Center, which will be comprised of an education range and training building for firearms safety and marksmanship education.

The Education Center will be funded in part by a Statewide Shooting Range Grant from the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Pima County Natural Resources Parks & Recreation may receive up $100,000 from the state for the construction of the education building and berm.

It is anticipated that the Thursday and Friday closures will be in place throughout the remainder of November and throughout December 2007. During the upcoming year construction will begin on a new clay target facility that will include trap, skeet and sporting clay fields, and a new archery facility.

These improvements are made possible by funding provided by the 2004 Pima County Special Bond Election. Dave Daughtry, Recreation Program Manager, said, “While we regret the inconvenience some of the improvements may cause, we know shooters and outdoor enthusiast will welcome the new additions. Just as we must experience some road delays while waiting for a new freeway we some have some temporary inconveniences while we improve our shooting ranges.”
Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range will be open as normal Saturdays and Sundays during the planned upcoming construction.

Ted Marshall's reputation as the premier AK builder and AK gunsmith proceeds him in collectors circles.

Some of us go beyond the mere pleasure of shooting the AK47 and delve into the never ending quest to collect the accurate parts to eventually build the ultimate historical recreation of our favorite version of the AK47. When you get to that point you are paying more for an upper handguard than most people pay for entire rifles. You're traveling 2 days out of your way to visit a shop in a town that you heard might have the magazine pouch you need to hold the mags for that rifle.

When you reach this point you look to just one person to build your AK, Ted Marshall
